My Roles: Co-Leader, Programmer, Level Design

We had ten weeks to complete this project with a team of seven. I mainly worked with three people, helping distribute work they were comfortable accomplishing. The Thematic Lead worked with three others to do the same. We had group meetings every class period to assess our progress and make changes to our goals as needed.

For planning the project, my impact was to provide the technical scope and to assign responsibilities to the tech team. Two people wanted to model while the third wanted to focus on level design. My responsibilities were:

  • To provide the project space in Unity
  • Determine on which assets would benefit our workflow
  • Gameplay programming
  • Additional level design

Project Focus Point: Designing against motion sickness

  1.  Static visual references in the form of a cage from the sub hull and the point of the Salmon’s nose.
  2. Attaching movement controls to the visual cage via touch controls on the dashboard.
  3. A physical reference via a Vive Tracker on a swivel chair. This allowed an area inside the ship to walk through as well as have a seated experience.

Packages Used:

  • VRTK - Extend Reality Ltd
  • R.A.M - River Auto Material - NATUREMANUFACTURE
  • Advanced Rock Pack 2.0 - NATUREMANUFACTURE
  • Advanced Foliage Pack 2.0 - NATUREMANUFACTURE

This was my first Unity and C# project, so there was a lot I had to learn during the project.
